FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
We understand that starting counselling can feel like a big step.
Here are some answers to common questions, tailored for each age group we support.
Children (Ages 6–12)
-
Anything that is bothering them. This could be worries, friendship changes, school stress, family changes, or feelings they do not yet understand. We use creative tools so children feel safe and heard.
-
We blend talking with play, drawing, mood cards, and interactive activities. Many children express themselves best through creativity and gentle structure.
-
Yes. We offer regular check-ins with parents or carers and share themes and progress while respecting your child’s privacy. Your support plays a big part in their emotional growth.
-
That is completely normal. We build trust slowly and use games, visuals, and gentle prompts to help them feel comfortable. There is never any pressure to talk before they are ready.
-
Working with children usually means extra time behind the scenes; planning sessions, using creative tools, and sometimes working with parents or schools too. It’s all part of making sure your child gets the best support possible, and that’s why the cost is slightly higher than adult sessions.
Adolescents (Ages 13–18)
-
Yes. Most teens prefer one-to-one sessions. We maintain confidentiality while keeping you informed about progress and any safeguarding concerns.
-
We support teens with anxiety, low mood, identity questions, peer pressure, family dynamics, exam stress, and more.
Sessions offer a safe, non-judgmental space to explore what is on their mind.
-
We can arrange a gentle introduction. This might be a short call, a creative resource, or a first session designed to explore what counselling involves and how it can help.
-
Teens join via secure video call in a quiet, private space. Sessions are conversational and creative, often using tools such as journaling, visuals, or mood check-ins
Adults
-
Sessions are typically conducted via secure video calls, phone, or messaging platforms. You’ll choose a time that suits you and connect with your counsellor from the comfort of your home.
-
No referral is needed. You can self-refer at any time. We welcome you exactly as you are, whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply want space to reflect.
-
Our approach is emotionally attuned and systemic. We combine structure with creativity and offer tools that support a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, grief, trauma, self-esteem, and life transitions
-
Yes. We co-create the process with you. You can choose open conversation, goal-setting, creative prompts, or a mix. Your voice shapes the journey.
